Even though HDB carries out quality checks during construction, small imperfections on surfaces, fixtures, or fittings may still be present. Don’t worry—new HDB BTO flats come with a one-year warranty under the Defects Liability Period (DLP), which begins from the day you collect your keys.
Once you’ve collected your keys, you have 30 days to report any defects before starting renovation. This step is important because, after renovation begins, it can be hard to determine whether the issue was caused by the building contractor or your renovation contractor—and therefore, who should be responsible for fixing it.
Repairs are usually completed within two weeks or less. So To avoid delays in your renovation plans, it’s best to coordinate with the staff at the Building Service Centre (BSC) so the repair schedule aligns with your renovation timeline.

Secondly as you move through your inspection, you may notice small imperfections. For example, there could be slight colour differences in your floor tiles or timber flooring. In addition, you might see variations in the size of grout lines between tiles.
